Badminton Bot
This Badminton Bot was thought of and created by researchers at the Flanders' Machatronics Technology Center in Belgium. These researchers were tired of trying to find an opponent for a badminton match and decided to create their own. By two camera, connected to a court wide trail, and of course a racket helps hit the birdie back. It responds in just a fraction of a second and can intercept at speeds up to nearly 250 mph.

I am very impressed with this design. It makes me think back to just a couple of months ago, when I was playing badminton in my gym class. At times, I was thinking of how it would be much more interesting if I could find an opponent that could actually play at a good level. I'm sure other people would also be thinking this during a gym class because since everyone is required to take this, you get people at all different skill levels. Some have more experience and also are more competitive than others. This machine would give those people a chance to play against an opponent that is just as good, if not better, for a fun challenge.
I also see this invention becoming successful for professional badminton players as well. They would always need and be wanting to have someone to play against and practice. This would come in handy during practice time to play against an opponent that is better than them. Also, I could see people at this level possibly wanting this to put in their home, for easy access to a badminton opponent at any thinkable time.
I deffinatly think that this design and idea could go somewhere and become successful. The only issues that I see would possibly be cost. I'm sure that this would not be an inexpensive product. This wouldn't be so much of an issue for the professionals. I would think that they would see something like this as a necessity to improve their game play now that it is available. The cost issue would be more towards the school environment. These competitive kids might need to go a few more years before something like this would be incorporated.
