Owl Bot
The Owl Bot ("Owl Suit Robot Drummer") was thought of and created by Tim Laursen. He wants to accomplish the combination of electronic music and the presence of samething wild and dangerous on stage. His design uses small levers to move the wings and mask. There are also lighters that give it an eerie glow reminiscent. Its also a functional design giving the wearer some added musical advantages. Laursen was inspired by aboriginal masks, which made him want to combine arts, history and robotics.
On Stage
I don't believe that this robot creation is very useful. I don't see many bands that would want to use an owl head and wings on stage, at least none of the bands I would listen to. Unless your band name is called "The Owls", I don't see where this product would be used. When you put the outfit on it hides the perons face and is not a very attractive and functional design, to say the least. The lights are like strobe lights coming out from the owl's head, making it seem like it would be good for concerts. Although I would not be attracted to a concert with strobe light owl eyes.
People who like nature shows and are owl enthusiasts could possibly be the best ticket buyers for these concerts.
As I have expressed, I do not believe there is a good use for this robot design. The only other possible solution that I can think of is to be used as a Halloween costume. Although, again I don't see this as a great success. Halloween is mostly drawn to by small children. I can't imagine this huge owl head and wings would be very light weight. This would be the first downfall as a children's costume. Even if it would draw towards older children, this giant robot costume would be extremely scary to all of the younger children trying to innocently go about on their trick-or-treating adventures. All in all, I do not see this robot working out in any area, except for the possible and very wierd concert
performances.
