Vocal Vacuum Bot
First thought of, designed, and made in Japan, they created a robot named Cocorobo. This is a combination of the Japanese words "heart" and "robot." This device is supposed to be able to communicate with users to do humans daily jobs. This certain Cocorobo is able to vacuum the floors. This is able to be done by connecting it to the technology of a smartphone, from which you can talk to, take and send photos, as well as see your dirty floors up close.
View from your smartphone.
I believe that this is a very good invention. I do not vacuum the floors in my house yet, but I am sure that it is not very enjoyable. I get this sense from some of the things my mom says, as well as how the cats react to it. This makes it so this chore is not enjoyable for anyone. Although with this new device, there seems like many advantages of having it. First of all, it is much smaller than a vacuum, which can get very bulky at times. This would make it easier to take up and down stairs, or get into smaller crevices. Another thing, is by the size of it, I am infering that it probably is a lot quieter than most vacuums used at this time. This would help in the area of which why my cats do not enjoy this chore either. Another perk of this robot, is that you are able to see the floors and take pictures via your smartphone. I'm not exactly sure why you would want to take a picture of a dirty floor, but this is still an interesting addition. An even better addition is that you are also able to talk to Cocorobo. This would make it easier for you to work the robot, while not having to learn how to control so many random buttons. An advancement that they are already starting to think of, and add on is the ability to expand the bot's functions to other household items such as lights, A/C, or the tv. This just makes the robot even better! I believe adding something liek that to the robot would be great and a big hit and great seller to many people everywhere!
The only downside I see from this robot design would be the fact that not everyone has a smartphone yet, which with my understanding means that you can't use this robot. I feel that this is unfair for these people, just because they are not caught up in the latest techonology, but might just want some help around the house. Also, the price to buy this robot seems somewhat pricy, but as long as it runs efficient and is long lasting, I believe you would still be able to get your money's worth. All in all, I like this robot design. I feel that it would be very helpful to people who want some help around the house, because really, who wants to do chores?
