Most Realistic Robot
Robots seem to be slowly, but surely, making their way into our society with the advanced technology that we have at hands today. These new designs are able to execute tasks such as perform surgeries, fly planes, replace austraunts, eat, and even baby-sit. With this comes the mixed feelings from the people. Is this addition really safe to our living space? From the video, it is shockingly shown that robots can now be made adequately realistic and almost impossible to spot the difference between authentic and artificial; although there still are the simplistic flaws of stiff and expressionless features. With the rapidly growing technology, this could be changed in a matter of a few years.
Intergrating the two worlds looks to be a difficult task for our earth in the future. These new creations could possibly be harmful. The society will have to keep close watch on safety and errors. With the complex programs the creators have to come up with are extremely vulnerable to errors. Errors lead to mistakes and mishappenings, and with possibly dangerous robots involved, could mean death. The stakes are high to make sure robots are identifying objects correctly, to then interpret what their leading action will be. We can't have them violently reacting to humans for something as simple as pointing an ice-cream cone at them, mistakingly thinking this is a form of threatening behavior. Although if an act such as this does occur, it would be unclear who is responsible for the harm done. Was it the programmer, manufacturer, robot's handler... or even the president's fault for this unfortunate event? All of these people share a part in the creation of the robot. This makes it difficult to accuse a single person. All of this has to do with the robots having to follow laws and ethics. The more real robots begin to be made, the more responsible they will have to be for their own actions. Programming this in seems to be a challenge though, with the unclear laws mixed with the robot's lack of emotions.
